Much of Dubai’s newest waterfront living is taking shape in two places: Dubai Islands on the northern coastline, and Dubai Maritime City between Port Rashid and Drydocks World.
Dubai Islands
Formerly known as Deira Islands, Dubai Islands comprises five islands with a total area of 17 square kilometres (as given by Nakheel (21 August 2022); subject to change). Nakheel’s plan includes more than 20 kilometres of beaches, among them a Blue Flag certified beach, around two square kilometres of parks and open space, and a network of marinas and promenades (as given by Nakheel (21 August 2022); subject to change).
Dubai Maritime City
Dubai Maritime City is a 249-hectare man-made peninsula established as a dedicated centre for the maritime industry (as given by Dubai Maritime City, About page (accessed 21 October 2026); subject to change).
Our view
Both destinations offer something increasingly rare in Dubai: new coastline close to the established city. As with any emerging area, infrastructure delivery and completion timelines deserve careful attention, and we advise on each project individually.
